Privacy policy

Short version: the Relay app transcribes your voice on your Mac and does not send audio anywhere. This website keeps an email address only if you ask for a license key, counts page views without cookies, and stores feedback you choose to send. relayword.com is operated by Liam Nelson; contact hello@relayword.com.

Who operates this site

relayword.com is operated by Liam Nelson. Questions and requests about your data go to hello@relayword.com.

What the website collects

License key signup

If you submit the optional signup form, we store your email address, the country derived from your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the page path you signed up from, and the time. We use these to email you a license key and release notes, to prevent abuse of the form, and to see which pages people sign up from. We do not store your IP address itself. The download does not require a signup.

Page view counters

The site keeps approximate daily counters of page views per path and per country. These are plain counts with no identifiers: no cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party analytics scripts. Requests from known bots and crawlers are not counted.

Feedback

If you send feedback from the Relay app or the website, we store the text you wrote plus the app version and the time it arrived, so we can read and act on it.

Cookies

relayword.com sets no cookies and loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts.

Processors we use

What the desktop app stores on your Mac

Relay keeps its data in ~/Library/Application Support/com.relay.app/: your settings, a usage log (timestamps, mode used, word counts and similar events, never your audio or transcript text), your notes, and an optional style profile generated from your own dictation history if you enable it. You can read or delete any of these files at any time. Audio is held in memory only while a dictation is in progress and is never written to disk.

The app contacts relayword.com for three things only: checking for updates (it fetches a small version file), validating a license key you entered, and sending feedback you chose to send. It does not send telemetry, transcripts or audio to us. If you turn on the optional AI cleanup with your own API key, the text you choose to clean up goes directly from your Mac to that provider under your own account; if you point it at a local model, nothing leaves your Mac.

Retention

Signup records and feedback are kept while Relay is offered, so we can re-send a license key and act on feedback. Page view counters are aggregate numbers and are kept indefinitely. Email delivery logs at Resend follow Resend's own retention period.

Deletion and access

Email hello@relayword.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete your signup record and any feedback tied to it, or send you a copy of what we hold. Deleting the app's local folder removes everything it stored on your Mac.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be mentioned in the release notes emailed to people who signed up.
