Why there is a free tier at all
Relay transcribes with Whisper on your own Mac, so a dictation costs us nothing to run. The daily limit is there to fund the work, not to meter a server bill. That is also why the free tier keeps every mode rather than locking the good one behind the paywall: Raw, Clean and AI all work on 10 dictations a day, exactly as they do on Pro.
There are no per-word credits, no seat minimums, and no separate charge for the AI cleanup. If you bring your own API key for cleanup, that stays between you and your provider on either plan.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
Relay keeps working. You move to the free tier: 10 dictations a day, with Raw, Clean and AI modes all still available. Nothing is deleted, nothing is locked, and you are not asked for a card.
Does the app stop working if I never pay?
No. Relay does not expire or nag you into a corner. The only thing Pro changes is the daily dictation limit. Transcription, the three modes, the history panel and your settings all keep working on the free tier.
How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?
Manage or cancel any time from the billing link on your Stripe receipt; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you drop back to the free tier rather than losing the app. Refunds are available within 14 days of payment, as set out in the terms.
Is $49 a year really cheaper than $7 a month?
Yes. Twelve months at $7 is $84, so the annual plan saves $35, which is 42%. It comes to $4.08 a month.
Does my payment information touch relayword.com?
No. Checkout runs on Stripe's own pages and card details never reach this site or the Relay app. Stripe tells us the email address on the completed purchase so we can move that license to Pro, and nothing else.
